Mike Arrowsmith


Michael Arrowsmith commenced his career in healthcare engineering when he joined the Sheffield Regional Hospital Board in 1960.  Thereafter he spent several years with Building Design Partnership before joining the Department of Health in 1975, becoming Chief Engineer in 1989.   In 1996 he left to form Arrowsmith and Associates.

His immense experience has included responsibility for the development and implementation of numerous Department of Health, British, European and International Standards affecting healthcare building services.   He continues his involvement in medical gas pipeline and supply system technology.  He was responsible for developing the early guidance for specialist ventilation systems for healthcare premises, and measures for the control of legionella in water services systems, including work on HTM 04, and the recent Revision.

He has considerable experience in resolving design and operational problems in healthcare premises both at home and abroad.
