Professor of Project Management, with over 35 years design, construction and industry-focused research experience working with industry, especially the healthcare and heavy engineering sectors, in the coproduction of research and best practice guidance. Main areas of expertise include: the innovative planning, design and construction of healthcare infrastructure; and improving project performance. Andrew has also been a Member of the DH Dementia Friendly Environment Working Group and a Member of the DH Estates and Facilities Division Advisory Group; and his research has informed government best practice in relation to the design of Dementia Friendly Environments and the performance of Acute Hospitals. Andrew has considerable experience of managing major collaborative funded research and has been an investigator on 38 completed research projects. He has contributed to the leadership and development of five major research centres/consortia (i.e. Health and Care Infrastructure Research and Innovation Centre (HaCIRIC), Centre for Innovative and Collaborative Construction Engineering (CICE), European Construction Institute (ECI), Innovative Manufacturing and Construction Research Centre (IMCRC) and Sustainable Urban Environments: Models Metric and Tools Consortium (SUE MoT)). Andrew also supervised 62 successful PhD/Eng Doc students from 25 countries and published over 400 papers in refereed journals and conferences.
